Meet Cheyenne Woods

We’re going to go out on a limb here. Cheyenne Woods, Tiger’s niece, won the 2011 ACC Golf Championship at Wake Forest. She won thirty amateur events before she turned pro eight years ago. To date, she hasn’t notched a single victory on the LPGA Tour. Her best showing so far has been eighth place at the New Zealand Open back in 2017. She’s yet to make a cut in 2020.

So why are we profiling this young lady? Sure, she’s beautiful and provides us a nice cover photo, but that’s not it. Take a look at that smile. No matter what happens in Cheyenne’s life, that smile is always on her face. Win, lose, or draw, she stays positive. That epitomizes what October Golf Magazine is all about. No matter what, keep your head up and stay positive.

Sometimes, life sucks. We’ve been dealing with adversity for a few months now. Imagine going through an eight-year losing streak. Coming out of college, Cheyenne Woods came on to the LPGA Tour with lofty expectations. She was a pedigree and a proven winner at the highest collegiate and amateur levels. What happened? Was the spotlight too bright for her? Was Tiger’s shadow too big?

Cheyenne is thirty now. She’s not the player her uncle was at that age. Then again, no one is. We still have faith in her. Personally, I believe she will win her first pro tournament this year. Call me crazy, but I believe this girl still has it in her. Those amateur titles weren’t a fluke. Cheyenne Woods can play the game of golf. Fans are rooting for her and so are we. I’m betting on her in 2020.
