Golf Will Survive the Zombie Apocalypse

We usually publish our first weekly post on Monday, but the news cycle has been dominated by mayhem. I didn’t want this to get lost in the madness. Derek Chauvin has been charged with murder. His accomplices are going down for aiding and abetting.

October Golf Magazine applauds the efforts of the peaceful demonstrators who exercised their constitutional rights to make this happen. We also want to give a shout-out to our boys in blue, the good cops who took the abuse for the actions of one racist asshole.

As for the looters, arsonists, and instigators, you can all crawl back into your holes. Not a single one of you ever cared about George Floyd, his family, or the underlying problems we have with race relations in this country. All of that was just an excuse for you to steal, burn, and spew hatred to the masses. Your time is done.

Beware of the Zombies

The zombies are already here. There are people in America who are brainwashed by social media, marginalized by broken promises, and fueled by inhuman living conditions. That’s the very definition of a zombie. Mindless beings, driven by hunger for a brain, who can only walk in one direction. Know anyone like that?

The one place I found peace this week was on the golf course. I shut my phone off before I play and never have to worry about riots and razing when I’m walking the fairway. There might be some political chatter, but it’s all friendly banter. Verbal conflict violates golf etiquette. Those 18 holes are an island of sanity amidst the chaos.

The golf course is a place where your race, creed, or color is meaningless. It hasn’t always been that way. Golf was once regarded as the last bastion of white privilege on earth. Not today. We’ve worked past our issues and are welcoming to all. We even let the zombies play. That’s why our great sport will always be there.
